Atletica 2000 Meeting confirms its position at the top. It is once again among the top 5 meetings in Italy

The Atletica 2000 Meeting confirms its position at the top. For the second year in a row, the meeting organized by the Codroipo company and Libertas Sanvitese is in the top 5 of the national ranking of Italian races. The event, held on June 2nd on the San Vito al Tagliamento track, obtained a score of 72,200. Ahead of the Friulian event are the Spring Meeting of Mondovì (73,252 points), the Savona International Meeting of Savona (81,460), the Palio Città della Quercia of Rovereto (83,294) and the Golden Gala of Rome (86,758), the latter being the only Italian meeting included in the Diamond League circuit, the most important organized by World Athletics. Various components form the result, including the level of the participants and the results obtained within the event.

The Atletica 2000 Meeting has thus shown itself to be in a new dimension, which it entered in 2024 after joining the Challenger series of the World Athletics Continental Tour, which took place last year. A transition that brought high-level athletes to the province of Pordenone (the event is also part of the EAP-Events for Athletics Promotion circuit). Following this turning point, twelve months ago, seven meeting records had been improved, while in the last edition four were broken. The records that fell were the 400 meters (men and women), the discus throw and the men's 100 meters. Of particular importance were the progress made in the 100, with the Dutchman Elvis Afrifa capable of running in 10''29 (+ 0.2 the wind) and in the discus throw, in which the South African Viktor Hogan, already three-time continental champion, sent the 2 kg implement to 61.57.

The Friulian race ended very positively, but its organizers are already thinking about the 2026 event. It will be an important edition, because it will be the twentieth: a story that began in 2000 and that continues to be written, with the goal on the horizon of returning to organize the event on the Codroipo track.
