Aurora Montale's 50th anniversary: a celebration for the sports group

Montale (Pistoia), July 20, 2025 – It was a true collective embrace that took place in the splendid setting of Villa Colle Alberto, where the Aurora Montale Sports Group proudly celebrated its 50th anniversary.

An evening filled with emotion, memories, and smiles, perfectly blending the values of sport and solidarity. Sergio Betti , president since the association's inception back in 1975, recalled how it all began almost by chance, at a time when road running was just beginning. Since then, the group has experienced constant growth, driven by passion, harmony, and success. Among his founders were Sergio Nencini, Andrea Meozzi, Giuseppe Tempestini, Giovanni Fiesoli, and Pierpaolo Becheri, the latter sadly deceased, for whom a trophy run annually in Montale is named. Many top athletes have honorably worn the Aurora jersey over the years, but the greatest achievement in these fifty years remains the commitment to engaging young people in the sport and promoting the authentic values of running and the Montale area.

During the well-attended evening, the most significant moments in the group's long history were revisited, but there were also many gestures of great human value: the ETS "Give Me a Smile," which handled the event's photography, received a donation from Aurora, as a tangible sign of recognition and support for its charitable mission. It was also gratefully acknowledged that the defibrillator currently in use by the team was donated by this Prato-based charity. Fifty years of running, friendship, and heart: the Gruppo Sportivo Aurora Montale confirms its position as a benchmark not only for local sports, but also for its profound community spirit and generosity.
