Azzi outwits Inter in the 90th minute, the match against Monza ends 2-2.

The "work in progress" sign is still clearly visible for Cristian Chivu's Inter. The Nerazzurri also fell behind against Monza (for their third of three summer friendlies), but looked to find a decisive comeback thanks to a Birindelli own goal and a second-half backheel from Esposito, before conceding the final 2-2 draw in the final minute following a defensive lapse that led to Azzi's goal.
A test that was especially useful for the second lines, given that the Inter coach chose an Inter B team in the starting lineup, also thanks to the various absences: in fact, seven players are unavailable (Frattesi, Zielinski and Bisseck are recovering, while Palacios, Zalewski, Calhanoglu and Dumfries are sidelined by slight fatigue) for Chivu, who changed 8 of the 11 players who fielded the team from the 1st minute against Monaco, launching in particular the Bonny-Esposito pairing in attack.
In the scorching heat of the U-Power Stadium, the positive signs came especially in the second half, when Inter picked up the pace after a slow-paced first half with too many technical errors. It's no coincidence that Monza deservedly took the lead thanks to Ciurria, who cleverly took advantage of a sluggish Nerazzurri defense to beat Martinez from close range. Chivu's team picked up the pace late in the first half, only finding the equalizer thanks to a assist from Birindelli, who, trying to beat Sucic, headed the ball into his own net.
In the second half, however, a different Inter emerged from the locker rooms, completing the comeback thanks to a magical effort from Esposito, who back-heeled a Darmian shot to make it 2-1. The Nerazzurri squandered several chances to make it 3-1, and in the 90th minute, they were punished for a defensive lapse by youngster Mosconi, which allowed Azzi to race past to make it 2-2. The tie thus led to penalties, where Martinez's save from Sardo gave Inter a 5-3 victory.
