Borlenghi, quicksilver. Limit on the world podium

Cesare Borlenghi
For the third year in a row, an athlete who trained at Canottieri Limite has won a medal at the World Championships , and it doesn't matter if he did it this time wearing the colors of another club. It's Cesare Borlenghi from Limite, who, along with his Canottieri Sampierdarenesi teammates Jacopo Cappagli and Romeo Schirinzi, as well as Matteo Trevisan of Canottieri Saturnia, took home the silver medal in the Under-19 Coxless Four, losing only to a stellar Great Britain. This is yet another demonstration of the quality of the Limite team and the hard work done by their coaches in recent years. Having only arrived on the banks of the Arno in 2021, Borlenghi has already achieved excellent results both nationally and internationally in just a few years. But let's look at the competition held in the Trakai basin in Lithuania. In the semifinals, the Italian crew immediately challenged Great Britain for the lead, with the two boats arriving practically tied at the 500-meter mark (just 13 hundredths of a second ahead of the Italians). In the second leg of the race, however, the British pulled away, but the four young Italians maintained a high pace, passing the 1000- and 1500-meter marks with a reassuring advantage over the United States and Turkey, allowing them to control their way into the final, 2.13 seconds ahead of Great Britain. This was Borlenghi's statement to the Italian Rowing Federation's official channels immediately after qualifying for the A final. In the final, the Italian and his teammates got off to a strong start, passing the 500-meter mark with a 59-hundredth advantage over the heavily favored Great Britain. Once again, however, the British demonstrated their unrivaled pace and took the gold medal by 3.84 seconds over the Italians, who did well to hold off the pressure from Germany as they approached the 1500-meter mark. Italy, however, held off the Germans' final assault and retained their second-place finish.
