He was 28 years old and had been married eleven days ago. He leaves behind a wife and three children . The dramatic accident occurred in Spain, near the region of Sanabria, in the province of Zamora. According to initial reconstructions provided by the Spanish police, the Lamborghini in which the striker was traveling lost control during an overtaking, probably due to a burst tire. On board with him was his younger brother, André Jota , 26, also a professional footballer playing for Penafiel. Both died instantly, according to what was reported by rescuers who intervened after the report from witnesses.
