Here is the Serie D group: 12 Sicilian teams
The National Amateur League has announced the nine groups for the new Serie D football season. Twelve Sicilian teams are in Group I. This interesting group features teams from Sicily, Calabria, and Campania. Here's the lineup: Athletic Palermo, Castrumfavara, Città di Acireale, Città di Gela, Enna, Messina, Milazzo, Nissa, Nuova Igea Virtus, Paternò, Ragusa, Sancataldese, Reggina, Sambiase, Vibonese, Vigor Lamezia, Gelbison, and Savoia.
The format has been confirmed, with nine direct promotions to Serie C for the group winners and four relegations to Eccellenza for each group (the bottom two teams plus the losers of the play-offs). For the second consecutive season, the regulations require three players under 18 (one born in 2005, one born in 2006, and one born in 2007).
While waiting for the championship, the Coppa Italia will kick off the new Serie D season: the 25th edition will begin on August 24th with the preliminary round, followed by the first round on the 31st. The final will be held on March 11, 2026, if it's a single-leg match; if it's a home-and-away format, the dates are February 25th/March 11th.
68 clubs will participate in the preliminary round: 33 newly promoted clubs, 6 relegated from Lega Pro; 18 winners of the 2023/2024 Play Outs and safe with a gap of more than eight points; 8 clubs ranked 12th in groups D, E, F, G, H, I and 14th in groups A, B and C at the end of last season, 3 teams re-admitted, and the clubs with the lowest ranking in the 2024/2025 Disciplinary Cup (Anzio, Enna, Imperia, Vigasio, Bassano, Recanatese, Flaminia Civitacastellana, San Marino). The 94 clubs eligible to qualify will enter the First Round.
The single-leg format has been confirmed for all rounds of the Cup until the semifinals. From the round of 32, the Cup will be based on the draw. The final may be played as usual as a single match on neutral ground or as a home-and-away match. In any case, penalties will decide the matches that end in a draw at the end of regulation time, including the final.
