Serie B: Montagnolo from Prato makes his debut with Frosinone.

Renato Montagnolo
Prato, August 22, 2025 – His Coppa Italia debut a few days ago was a positive one, considering the 1-0 win over Monza. And on August 24, at 9:00 PM, Renato Montagnolo will debut as assistant coach of Frosinone on the first matchday of the 2025/26 Serie B season in front of the Ciociaria fans, against Avellino. The thirty-five-year-old from Prato arrived in Ciociaria as assistant to coach Massimiliano Alvini, thus reviving at Lazio the partnership that began in the days of Albinoleffe and Serie C. At that time, Montagnolo also found himself having to replace his mentor for a few games and became the youngest professional coach at just 28, in 2018 (thanks to a federal exemption). The pair reunited in the summer of 2019 in Reggio Emilia, with excellent results: under their guidance, the Emilian club advanced from Serie D to the second division in just one year, taking advantage of the repechage and then the promotion playoffs. And after an excellent season with Perugia, the doors to Serie A opened wide for both of them in 2022 at the helm of Cremonese. Their spell at Spezia, which should have represented a relaunch in Serie B, didn't end well either. And in the last tournament, the two attempted to secure survival with Cosenza, a highly difficult task that even the coaching staff who arrived in Calabria after their dismissal couldn't manage. In short, Montagnolo is seeking redemption alongside his mentor in Frosinone. And the start, if nothing else, has been encouraging.
