Sinner rehires Ferrara as athletic trainer after the Clostebol case. The reasons for the separation.

Jannik Sinner has made his choice: Umberto Ferrara is returning to his team. The man responsible for the Clostebol scandal , fired last September, will return to the world number one's coaching staff. Ferrara's return will be immediate: he will dedicate himself to Jannik during these days of preparation in Monte Carlo and then follow him on the American trip that will see the Italian star at the Cincinnati Masters 1000 and, above all, the US Open . Ferrara joined Sinner's staff in 2022 and remained there until last September when the tennis player, after "suspending" him in August, decided to fire him. Who is Umberto Ferrara?

Throughout his career, Umberto Ferrara has coached other tennis players besides Sinner , starting with Marco Cecchinato (semifinalist at Roland Garros in 2018 after beating Djokovic in the quarterfinals). He joined Jannik's staff at the end of May 2022, following Sinner's separation from his first coach, Riccardo Piatti. Jannik liked to call Ferrara "the torturer" because, at least initially, he wasn't crazy about the gym work. In addition to his muscle development, Ferrara also supervised the world number one's nutrition. After the Clostebol scandal and his dismissal, Ferrara coached Matteo Berrettini for a few months.
