Soccer. Promotion: Giannini's Urbino Taccola

August 21, 2025

As second, here is Luca Altemura
Pisa, August 21 – Urbino Taccola 's pre-season preparations for the 2025/26 Promozione season have begun. Gabriele Giannini , son of Luca, coach of Pisa Sporting Club and the Italian Under-21 national team, is coaching the team. After coaching the regional junior team at the end of last season, leading the team to a hard-fought but deserved relegation, Giannini has decided to embrace the Promozione project proposed by the spa club. Born in 1977, a true Pisan, after several seasons with important Tuscan amateur clubs, Giannini coached Pisa's youth teams for four seasons, sitting on the benches of the Under-16, Under-17, and the Nerazzurri Berretti team. In recent seasons, his experience as coach of Sanremese, a Ligurian team competing in the Serie D championship, has been important to him.
"We are proud of this choice," stated director Graziano Pardini. "As soon as Luca Polzella informed us that he would not be continuing his career with the red and whites, we immediately thought that Gabriele Giannini would be the right alternative. We spoke to him about it, and, obviously after careful consideration, he accepted our offer." This decision was made by the director, assisted and supported by his trusted collaborators Niccolai and Chiavistelli, as well as, of course, the entire board of directors chaired by Simone Taglioli. "Gabriele is a young coach, but he has already gained significant experience. With him, we will approach a new Promotion championship with ambition and enthusiasm." The person concerned is also satisfied. "I embrace this challenge with enthusiasm. The project is ambitious and perfectly reflects our approach. I want to achieve something important with Urbino Taccola. The club deserves to return to the professional arena of amateur football," commented Coach Giannini. "I don't usually make predictions about the possible results, but our goal is certainly to do well. We'll try to reap as much positive benefits as possible."
Luca Altemura, the assistant coach, will sit on the bench alongside Gabriele Giannini. His contribution has been invaluable during the athletic preparations and the upcoming competitive season that the red and white club is preparing to embark on. Altemura is a coach and former player, well-regarded and well-known in the Pisa area and especially in the spa town of Pisa. He has a distinguished past with Urbino Taccola, a distinguished athlete who spent several seasons with the red and white club, starting from the Second Division and reaching the Promotion League.
