Beaches in the Marche, the most beautiful, but also authentic and wild

Admiring a black pebble beach, discovering the ancient traces of Valbruna, observing the stacks that emerge from the water: the itinerary that takes us to discover the most beautiful beaches in the Marche region puts us in contact with a territory where we pass from coves to super-equipped beaches. What does not change is our wonder in front of the crystalline waters, the sinuous hills, the mountains, the beaches that are located right on the slopes of villages that tell stories of the sea.

The Two Sisters Beach

The first thing to know about the Spiaggia delle Due Sorelle is that it can only be reached by sea , and this is what makes the experience so special, one of those to live at least once in a lifetime. Among the most beautiful beaches in the Marche (and Italy), it is the symbol of the so-called Riviera del Conero . It owes its name to the twin stacks that stand out on the horizon and emerge from the water.

It is particularly appreciated for its crystal clear sea: as anticipated, we can visit it by booking a visit with the boats that leave from the port of Numana. Alternatively, especially for those accustomed to water sports, it can also be reached by canoe or SUP . But it is important to remember one thing: the territory is protected, so you cannot leave your equipment around, abandoned on the shoreline. Better to organize yourself in advance, so as to avoid any hitches.

The Urbani Beach

There are many reasons why Urbani Beach is so loved and appreciated. Let's start with its typical crescent shape, which makes it truly characteristic, a territorial conformation that leaves you breathless. It is composed of fine gravel and pebbles , and among other things there are stretches of free beach. Nearby there is no shortage of bathing establishments and restaurants, as well as three parking lots, two of which are paid and one is free.

You can reach it on foot from the historic center of Sirolo or, alternatively, with the shuttle buses (here in the summer they are a great unmissable classic). Like the Spiaggia delle Due Sorelle, the Spiaggia Urbani is also among the most famous in Sirolo and is located right on the slopes of the village. We recommend it because the view of Monte Conero is simply breathtaking, especially towards sunset: this is the best time to carve out a few hours of unforgettable vacation.

Mezzavalle Beach

Let's talk now about a beach with a wilder charm , located north of Ancona , in the Conero area, probably one of the most beautiful stretches of the Marche: the Mezzavalle Beach . Here an on the road is a must to discover all the coves and beaches. It is the last beach of Ancona and is completely free , therefore without bathing establishments. We can reach it both through the paths and by sea. For those who want to venture, one of the paths is longer and more intricate, while the other is short but steep: if we are not used to trekking, it is better to ask for information and take off by boat.

The Velvet Beach of Senigallia

Also very famous is the Spiaggia di Velluto in Senigallia , 13 km of very fine sand , so called because it is soft to the touch like velvet. Awarded for the quality of its clear and clean sea , it is often recommended among the best destinations to go to in the Marche to organize a family friendly holiday.

The Passetto Beach

For those who want to organize a vacation in the Marche like a local , the Spiaggia del Passetto is perfect: here, in fact, the people of Ancona come for a quick dip. It is located right at the end of Viale della Vittoria . Near the beach there are services, including beach resorts and bars, but we recommend, to make the most of your day at the beach, to bring rock shoes . A little tip: if it is possible – sometimes it is not accessible – we suggest visiting the Passetto caves .

The Beach The Sailing

Among the wonders of the Riviera del Conero, Spiaggia La Vela is also an unmissable stop. It is impossible not to fall in love with it at first sight: in front of us, a white sail-shaped rock emerges from the sea, and it is precisely this that gives its name to this suggestive cove, which opens shortly after the Church of Santa Maria di Portonovo.

The beach is made up of rocks and gravel, and the path to reach it winds along the mountain : not the easiest to walk, but certainly one of the most panoramic. It is divided into two coves, both without establishments and services. The first is larger and is characterized by large pebbles; the second is decidedly more intimate and has a seabed of fine gravel.

Vallugola Bay

Extremely characteristic is the Vallugola Bay , one of the points of reference for those who go on holiday on the Adriatic coast. We are in the province of Pesaro and Urbino, precisely between Gabicce Mare and Casteldimezzo. This bay is not only beautiful to visit for its landscape value , but it also allows us to learn about a particular history. Right here, in fact, according to legend, the remains of Valbruna , a submerged city, were found. Between mysteries and uncontaminated nature , it is definitely one of the most beautiful beaches in the Marche, in our opinion.

The Black Stones Beach

It owes its name to the dark seabed , formed by rocks and smooth stones, which gives deep reflections to the sea. A mostly free beach, which we recommend especially to those who dream of an experience in direct contact with nature. The composition of the coastline? Pebbles, gravel and rocky stretches.

Even in this case, we must equip ourselves to reach it on foot, from the nearby Spiaggia di San Michele , or starting from the center of Sirolo, following the path that crosses the Parco della Repubblica. The route is well marked, there are some steeper descents, but it is also suitable for those who are not particularly expert in trekking. In summer, a convenient shuttle bus service is always active from the main parking lots of the town, especially for those who really prefer to avoid walking under the sun.

The Palm Riviera

In the southern part of the Marche region lies the Riviera delle Palme, precisely in the province of Ascoli Piceno, a stretch of coast dotted – as the name suggests – with hundreds of palm trees . It is one of the most popular destinations for family holidays: starting from San Benedetto del Tronto , one of the historic seaside resorts in Italy.

Moving slightly, we come across the beach of Cupra Marittima , a little gem between Grottammare and Marina di Massignano , which has been awarded the Blue Flag several times. And let's not forget the beach of Grottammare, known by most as the "Pearl of the Adriatic": a postcard coastline.
