'He has her locked up and I fear for her life,' son tells stepfather in Iztapalapa
A man in Iztapalapa, Mexico City (CDMX), was arrested after he attacked his partner in her home; police entered the house, rescued her, and seized a firearm and a knife from him.
The Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) reported that, in response to a citizen complaint, they arrested a man who physically assaulted a woman inside a house.
Officers responded to a report of gunshots and domestic violence at a home located on Radiodifusora Street and Eje 6 Poniente, so they approached the scene.
The woman's son reported his stepfatherUpon arriving at the scene, police interviewed a young man who said that in one of the rooms of the property, his mother's partner, his stepfather, threatened her with a firearm.
"They are locked up and I fear for her physical integrity," said the 47-year-old woman's son while banging and crying could be heard.
The operations director, through a window, started a dialogue with the subjects and the uniformed officers carried out a deployment in the vicinity of the property.
After several minutes of dialogue and seeing that the man did not give in to leave, with the young man's permission, a work team knocked down the door and police entered the home, arrested the man and protected the woman.
The person in charge was assured:
- A submachine gun type firearm
- A magazine with 10 useful cartridges
- A silver-colored knife approximately 15 centimeters long
The victim was assessed by paramedics and diagnosed with a nervous breakdown, with no visible injuries.
Meanwhile, the 49-year-old man was arrested and, after cross-checking information, it was learned that he has three entries into the CDMX Penitentiary System:
- By Resistance of individuals in the years 2020 and 20221
- Crimes against health in the form of drug dealing, possession for the purpose of trade or commercialization and Possession of firearms in 2024.
A video is circulating on social media showing how the man was arrested by Mexico City police after being forcibly removed from the home where he was assaulting his partner.
In the clip, the man remains kneeling on the ground while police officers hold him down and handcuffed.
