On the night of Friday, August 22, Arístides Guerrero, the justice elected to the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation ( SCJN ), was involved in an accident on Río Churubusco Avenue in Mexico City ( CDMX ); he is in stable condition.

According to what was reported by his communication team in writing, Arístides Guerrero was returning from an event , it was on the way home from the airport in Mexico City when he was hit.

Arístides Guerrero, also known as the "chicharrón candidate," is one of the nine elected justices of the SCJN who will be sworn in on September 1st for the position they will hold for the next 12 years.

It was around 10:30 p.m. on Friday, August 22, that the car in which Arístides Guerrero, elected minister of the SCJN , was traveling, along with two other people, suffered an accident on Río Churubusco Avenue, Mexico City.

Arístides Guerrero suffered chest and nasal fractures from the car accident, which required surgery, although the minister-elect is currently stable with a positive prognosis.

As explained in the statement, during the journey, which does not mention the exact point on Avenida Río Churubusco, the car in which Arístides Guerrero was traveling was hit for a second.

It is reported that Arístides Guerrero was returning from a trip to the capital of Oaxaca , as the elected minister of the SCJN for the National Meeting of Electoral Prosecutors organized by the State Attorney General's Office.

Arístides Guerrero suffers an accident

The accident of Arístides Guerrero occurs 10 days after his swearing-in as the new minister of the SCJN , which will be held on September 1st and will be present, as stated in the statement.

As reported by his family, Arístides Guerrero's prognosis is positive for being able to attend his inauguration, although his fractures require a temporary reduction in mobility.

Likewise, Arístides Guerrero's recovery from his car accident will not affect the work of what will be the new Supreme Court of Justice or his role as a justice of the Supreme Court, as his team claims.

However, collaborators of Arístides Guerrero also requested understanding in his recovery, since the minister-elect's channels will be the ones to report on his progress and health status after the accident in Mexico City .
