Clara Brugada commemorates the 14th anniversary of the Council to Prevent and Eliminate Discrimination in Mexico City

“Discrimination is a crime and in the City we will not tolerate any act of hate, discrimination or exclusion,” emphasized Clara Brugada Molina, Head of Government of Mexico City , at the commemorative event for the 14th anniversary of the Council to Prevent and Eliminate Discrimination in Mexico City ( COPRED ), a fundamental pillar in the construction of a more just and egalitarian society.
The capital's leader said that in these 14 years, she has worked tirelessly to combat hatred, discrimination and all forms of exclusion, promoting respect for diversity and the defense of the rights of all.
During the event, the principles of the Mexico City government were reiterated, which are: unrestricted respect for diversity; permanent and constructive dialogue with the trans community; acting in accordance with human rights and the law in all our actions; and close collaboration with civil society to guarantee the rights of the LGBTTTIQ+ community .
Brugada Molina called on all citizens to take part in the fight against discrimination in all its forms: due to skin color, ethnic origin, sexual orientation, gender identity , income level or any other condition.
"We are the capital of rights and freedoms, we have been at the forefront of protecting the rights of all, and we will continue to pave the way for every person in the city to live fully without hate and violence," concluded the Head of Government.
The event was attended by the leaders of Mexico City, Geraldina González de la Vega Hernández, president of the Council to Prevent and Eliminate Discrimination (COPRED); Nashieli Ramírez Hernández, president of the Human Rights Commission; Daptnhe Cuevas Ortiz, Secretary for Women; Gabriela Torres Soberanes, president of the Consultative Assembly of the Council to Prevent and Eliminate Discrimination; as well as Genaro Lozano Valencia, emeritus assemblyman of the Council to Prevent and Eliminate Discrimination.
