CNTE raises chaos; Sheinbaum ignores them

For six hours, teachers from the National Coordinator of Education Workers (CNTE) blocked Paseo de la Reforma.

The protesters closed the central lanes, from Chapultepec to the Hidalgo Metro area.

The teachers placed banners, ribbons, and chairs on the avenue, at the roundabouts of La Diana Cazadora, the Angel of Independence, Insurgentes, and El Caballito.

In various statements at sound panels, they warned that public spaces will be increasingly seized.

Section 22 of Oaxaca mobilized on Paseo de la Reforma, closing several key intersections.

Mexico City police reported traffic chaos on surrounding streets.

The CNTE (National Union of Workers) today completed seven days of a work stoppage, which also included a series of demonstrations in Mexico City, primarily involving teachers from Oaxaca, Guerrero, Mexico City, and Michoacán.

Metrobús service on Paseo de la Reforma has been suspended from Campo Marte to the Hidalgo Metro station.

After boycotting the morning press conference at the National Palace, blocking access, the teachers moved to various points along Paseo de la Reforma to resume their day of protest.

"Don't even let the motorcycles pass, no one can pass," the teachers said through their horns.

The teachers' union has called on the President to hold a dialogue before Friday.

The protesters brought tarps to place in the center lanes, tables to hold food, water jugs, fruit, and braziers. They also brought word searches and card games to liven up the event.

"From here, we tell President Claudia Sheinbaum that none of her dialogue tables, with her fourth-rate officials, have been satisfactory for our list of demands," said a teacher.

The teachers also made graffiti.
