In a recent interview, the general secretary of Section 38, Isela Licerio Luévano, stated that medical services have improved significantly in recent months. According to her, one of the main transformations has been the implementation of a reengineering plan that has saved resources and allocated them to infrastructure and medical equipment.
“We're doing very well; all five clinics are operating at 100%. Reengineering has been carried out, resources have been saved, and we've invested in infrastructure ,” commented Licerio Luévano.
She also mentioned that they have signed agreements with the state government for specialized treatments, such as cancer treatments, and that they are taking measures to guarantee the supply of medications. According to the leader, clinics in municipalities such as Torreón, Monclova, and Sabinas have received significant investments for their rehabilitation and operation.
As part of the strategies to ensure the continuity of medical services, Licerio Luévano mentioned that additional resources have been sought. One of the proposals is to organize a raffle for a house, which would strengthen the supply of medications and make improvements to infrastructure.
Another strategy mentioned by the union leader is the rental of recreational facilities belonging to Section 38, which has provided additional resources for the maintenance of clinics and the supply of medications. She explained that some of these previously inactive spaces are now generating income that is used to strengthen medical services.
In this context, the union leader emphasized that the hemodialysis unit at the Teachers' Clinic will be inaugurated next Tuesday, just one day before the next follow-up meeting. The event, she said, will be held as part of efforts to strengthen the medical infrastructure at Section 38 clinics.
During one of the follow-up meetings, some teachers expressed that, compared to previous years, when the medical service was functioning adequately (before 2008), the quality of care has deteriorated significantly. Regarding this, Licerio Luévano stated:
"We want teachers to have confidence; with this government, we'll soon have good results."
Regarding the problems the clinics faced in previous years, Licerio Luévano commented that some buildings suffered from structural damage and a lack of maintenance, which complicated their operation. He stated that, with the support of the state government, significant improvements have been made and that the facilities are currently in optimal condition.
It should be noted that the next follow-up meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, May 28, 2025. At the last meeting, held on May 8 , it was established that teachers would organize to constantly monitor progress on the demands raised, especially regarding medical care and medication supplies at the Teachers' Clinic.
