Durango faces a major challenge in the election, they will need double booths to cover local and federal voting

The National Electoral Institute (INE) faces a major challenge in Durango, where there will be double voting booths to cover the election of the federal and state judiciary, as well as the renewal of municipal councils.
This Tuesday, the extraordinary session of the Judiciary was held, followed by the ordinary session of the local process. In both cases, important points were raised in relation to the appointment of electoral supervisors and trainers (CAES). for the work carried out in the field, house by house, to invite the citizens who were chosen by lottery to participate as polling station officials on Sunday, June 1.
"For the local process, we ratified certain aspects, for example, the geographic areas where electoral supervisors and CAES work, update reports, the registry, cuts, figures obtained in citizen service modules, electoral organization activities, the tours that are being made to locate polling stations. So, we are going hand in hand with both activities," explained Andrea Paola Villagómez Escobedo, president of the 03 District Council of the INE in Lerdo.
He pointed out that at this time the most important challenge is for citizens to attend to the CAES , who have been in the field since February 9 for both the local and judicial processes, looking for the people who were drawn so that they can participate as potential polling station officials.
The president of the council mentioned that in this district, which includes Lerdo and 17 other municipalities in the state of Durango, there has always been a response from citizens to come and support at the polling stations, but they also face resignations and people who do not have the possibility of participating because they work on Sunday or because they have a family member to care for.
"There are always rejections, but there have been more who have decided to participate. Right now the biggest challenge is that we have to set up two different polling stations: one for the local electoral process and another for the extraordinary electoral process of the Judiciary," he said.
Villagómez Escobedo pointed out that, at the federal level, There will be six ballots, which have already been approved, apart from that in Durango there is the peculiarity that there is an extraordinary electoral process of the local Judicial Power , ballots that are still pending to be defined. And there is also the election of city councils, which would imply another ballot.
"We have the challenge of installing two polling stations, preferably in the same building, for example, in different rooms when it comes to schools so that the information is not mixed and the officials of both polling stations are clear about what their activity is," he explained, "that is why it is the biggest challenge, because we have to get more than double the number of officials because there are two polling stations, something that not all states are in that situation, only Durango and Veracruz are the ones that have a local process and the rest of the entities only have an extraordinary electoral process."
He indicated that in district 03 of Durango 20 thousand polling station officials are required.
