Elected Mexican Supreme Court Justice suffers accident

The justice elected to form the new Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN), Arístides Guerrero García, was involved in a car accident on Friday night in Mexico City and is making a "satisfactory" recovery.
In an attached statement, released on the minister's X account, it was reported that Guerrero García, upon returning from the city of Oaxaca (south), "after participating as a guest in a public event of the State Attorney General's Office," suffered a vehicle accident on Río Churubusco Avenue (Mexico City), when he was traveling from the airport to his home.
The accident occurred at 10:30 p.m. local time (4:30 a.m. GMT Saturday), after the car he was traveling in collided with another vehicle, causing the minister to suffer "fractures to his chest and nose," injuries that required surgery.
"He is currently stable, and his family reports a positive prognosis," stated the document published by his communications team.
It was also announced that, despite the situation, Guerrero García will attend the swearing-in ceremony of the ministers elected in the judicial elections held on June 1 on September 1.
"The work of the New Supreme Court and his performance as a minister will not be affected," the document added, noting that the injuries the official suffered were merely a "temporary reduction in mobility."
Finally, it was emphasized that the minister's social media channels will continue to provide "timely updates on the progress of his health."
This incident occurs just days before the new Supreme Court of Justice (SCJN) takes office on September 1st. Three ceremonies will take place: the swearing-in ceremony before the Senate, the solemn session to install the new Supreme Court, and the traditional ceremony of the transfer of the baton of command and service by Indigenous and Afro-Mexican authorities to the ministers.
