Mexican stock market falls and has had its third consecutive decline

The Mexican Stock Exchange (BMV) fell -1.22% on Tuesday in its main indicator, which stood at 53,050.33 units , marking three consecutive falls, something not seen since the third week of December 2024.
"The capital market closed the session with mixed results among the main stock market indices at a global level," said Gabriela Siller, director of Economic and Financial Analysis at Banco Base.
In Mexico, Siller said, the Price and Quotation Index (IPC) , the main indicator of the BMV, "closed the session with a loss of -1.22% , linking three sessions of decline, something that had not occurred since December 17 to 19 of last year."
Within the Mexican market, the analyst noted that the losses of the issuers were highlighted by: Banorte (-2.59%), Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico (-2.92%), Walmex (-1.59%), Grupo Aeroportuario del Centro (-3.31%) and Grupo México (-0.76%).
For his part, the director of Economic Analysis of the Actinver Financial Group, Enrique Covarrubias, indicated that the main indicator of the Mexican Stock Market "fell -1.2%, reaching 53,050 units."
With this move, he added, "the index brought accumulated gains in February to +3.6%, while the 2025 performance stood at +7.1%."
During the day, the peso depreciated 0.14% against the dollar, trading at 20.46 units per greenback , after being valued at 20.43 in the previous session , according to data from the Bank of Mexico.
The IPC closed the session at 53,050.33 units , with a loss of 654.12 points and a negative variation of 1.22% compared to the previous day.
The volume traded on the market reached 276 million shares for an amount of 21.305 billion pesos.
Of the 630 companies listed on the day, 230 closed with higher prices, 378 had losses and 22 closed unchanged.
The stocks with the greatest upward variation were those of the industrial conglomerate Grupo Kuo (KUO A), with 5.64% ; the holding company of financial services entities Actinver (ACTINVR B), with 3.72% ; and the hotel operator Grupo Posadas (POSADAS A), with 3.52% .
In contrast, the largest downward variations were those of the construction materials firm Orbia Advance Corporation (ORBIA), with -6.94% ; the financial services firm Banco Regional (RA), with -5.17% ; and Grupo Financiero Inbursa (GFINBUR O), with -4.29% .
