Milei and Meloni close a deal to export liquefied gas from an Argentine field to Europe.

Argentine President Javier Milei and Italian Prime MinisterGiorgia Meloni signed an agreement in Rome on Friday to export liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Argentina's Vaca Muerta oil field in the Neuquén region to Europe.
The Argentine president's office has released images of Milei and Meloni "overseeing the signing of the strategic agreement between energy companies YPF (Argentina's Yacimientos Petrolíferos Fiscales) and ENI (Italy's Corporación Nacional de Hidrocarburos) to export LNG to the world."
The two leaders held a meeting today, during which they adopted the action plan between Argentina and Italy, announced in November 2024 when Meloni visited Buenos Aires. The plan aims to "boost and strategically project the relationship between the two countries," according to a joint press release.
The plan identifies political dialogue, cooperation in economic and trade matters, defense, judicial and security matters, as well as in social and cultural policy sectors as priorities. Its implementation will be coordinated by the foreign ministries through "regular meetings of the existing bilateral mechanisms."
At the meeting, they also addressed "the main issues on the international agenda" and reiterated their "full support for a just and lasting peace in Ukraine," while expressing their "shared vision of the centrality of transatlantic relations and support for cooperation" between the EU and Mercosur. They also expressed their " common commitment to combating transnational organized crime and human trafficking."
