Minister-elect Arístides Guerrero hospitalized after car accident; how is he doing?

Justice-elect Arístides Guerrero García , who will form the new Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN) in the coming days, was involved in a car accident on the night of Friday, August 22 , in Mexico City, which resulted in his hospitalization.
This was announced by Guerrero García's social communications team through a statement shared on his X account, in which he reported that the minister is stable and is already "recovering satisfactorily" from his injuries .
What was Minister Arístides Guerrero's car accident like?According to the statement released on social media, the accident occurred yesterday, Friday, around 10:30 p.m., after returning from an event in the city of Oaxaca, in which he participated as a guest of the State Attorney General's Office.
Already in the country's capital, the car in which Arístides Guerrero was traveling suffered an accident on Río Churubusco Avenue , while traveling from Mexico City International Airport (AICM) to his home.
The vehicle in which the elected minister was traveling collided with another car, which caused the elected minister to suffer fractures in the chest and nose , which required “surgical interventions,” added his communications team.
Guerrero García was also traveling with the driver and two passengers , who suffered fractured limbs. "They were treated promptly and are recovering," the statement said.
Regarding the minister's health, it was reported that his family reports that he has a positive prognosis and that he "will be active to assume his duties" on September 1, when the ministers of the new SCJN will be sworn in .
"Since this process only involves a temporary reduction in mobility while he fully recovers, the work of the new Supreme Court or his performance as a minister will not be affected," the statement said.
Who is Arístides Guerrero, future Supreme Court Justice?Arístides Rodrigo Guerrero García is one of the nine Supreme Court justices elected by popular vote in the recent judicial elections. During his campaign, he became popular for his humorous slogan, claiming to be "more prepared than a pork rind."
He holds a bachelor's, master's, and doctorate degree in Law from UNAM, earning all of his degrees with honors.
He also holds a Master's degree in Parliamentary Law, Legislative Studies, and Elections from the Complutense University of Madrid, as well as advanced courses in data protection (University of Bologna) and legal comparative law.
He began his career at the Electoral Tribunal of Mexico City , where he held positions such as study and accounts secretary, dissemination and publication coordinator, head of the Specialized Sanctioning Procedures Unit, and director of the Statistics and Jurisprudence Unit.
Subsequently, between 2018 and 2024, he served as President Commissioner of the Institute of Transparency , Access to Public Information, Protection of Personal Data and Accountability of Mexico City ( INFO CDMX ).
Academically, he is a professor at the UNAM School of Law , teaching subjects such as Constitutional Law, Electoral Law, Human Rights, and the Judiciary. He has also taught at other institutions such as the UAM and the American University of Acapulco.
