Minor sentenced to prison for burning dogs in Saltillo

A judge decided to sentence the teenager to three months of preventive detention.
The teenager identified as Giovani N. was ordered to be held in preventive detention for a period of three months at the Adolescent Detention and Diagnostic Center for the crime of cruelty and violence against sentient beings.
The measure was imposed as a precautionary measure while the Public Prosecutor's Office gathers more evidence to conclude the investigation. The ruling was made by the supervisory judge during a closed-door hearing at the Criminal Justice Center.

Only attorneys and staff from the State Attorney General's Office were allowed access. Unofficially, it was reported that the minor already had a criminal record and a history of bad behavior.
It all happened after the child intentionally set a fire in a shed located in the La Palma neighborhood, in collusion with an adult. Two dogs died in the incident and five others were burned. The child allegedly deliberately set the fire in a small wooden house. Before the hearing concluded, the judge scheduled a third appearance for the child and his defense for June 20th at 12:00 p.m.
It was not specified what type of hearing will be held.
