The new ISSSTE discounts will not apply to teachers

Senator Alfonso Cepeda Salas, president of the Social Security Commission and general secretary of the National Union of Education Workers (SNTE), announced that no additional discounts will be applied to ISSSTE health insurance for base workers.
This statement was made during his participation in the Congress of the Union, where he highlighted that, after effective communication with President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, it was determined that the reforms to the ISSSTE Law will not affect the income of the base employees of any union.
Cepeda Salas explained that, although an additional discount was initially contemplated for those workers who received more than 10 Measurement and Update Units (UMAs), equivalent to $34,439 pesos with 46 cents per month, this measure will not apply to permanent staff.
"Those of us who hold elected office will contribute... but the rank-and-file staff, the rank-and-file teachers... will not be affected," said the union leader.
The decision was supported by Congressman Ricardo Monreal, who confirmed the measure during the recent legislative sessions.
Teachers manage to avoid salary cutsThis decision brings peace of mind to thousands of teachers who have expressed their concern about possible effects on their salaries and working conditions.
The SNTE has worked on concrete proposals to improve pensions without negatively impacting the income of education workers.
The union is maintaining dialogue with the federal government to ensure that the teachers' labor rights are respected and strengthened.
In addition, Cepeda Salas highlighted that President Sheinbaum has addressed the demands of the teaching profession, including the elimination of the Unit of the System for the Career of Teachers (USICAMM).
According to the leader, this organization has generated bureaucracy and uncertainty regarding teachers' labor rights.
"We are going to get to the bottom of it. This is not a simulation, it is about the disappearance of USICAMM and building a new system that guarantees the labor rights of teachers," he said.
