The weight of indigenous peoples

The low profile of Hugo Aguilar Ortiz's campaign for the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation protected him from external attacks and from the 4T itself. Although his name was on the welfare accordions distributed in print and via WhatsApp, there was no social media or media push to promote or expose him like others, such as the ministers who will be reappointed.

While Lenia Batres, Yasmín Esquivel, and Loretta Ortiz competed directly and clashed during the campaign, a small group aligned with AMLO was tasked with nurturing and positioning Oaxacan Hugo Aguilar within the Morena structure.

The Cuatroteís urban machinery split into three and faced the favorites, both due to their media exposure and their closeness to the former and current Mexican president. The Mixtec lawyer, who after Benito Juárez will be the second indigenous Oaxacan president of the Supreme Court of Justice, steered clear of these social media and media attacks, and went it alone among the indigenous communities.

The one who did receive a social media post, orchestrated by individuals known for creating propaganda in favor of certain figures in the regime, was César Gutiérrez, son of former general José Gutiérrez Rebollo… But the propaganda of these YouTubers didn't work; he wasn't on the lists distributed by the 4T structure through its leadership in the parties and the government. He wasn't one of the chosen ones.

The maneuver in favor of the eventual winner was the responsibility of, among others, Adelfo Regino Montes, head of the National Institute of Indigenous Peoples, appointed to the position by former President López Obrador, with whom he and Aguilar Ortiz have been very close… Their loyalties lie in Palenque, Chiapas.

The accordions were successful, some of which came from the Ministry of Welfare. That was the true vehicle through which the message of the regime's candidates was transmitted.

Therefore, the formation of the new Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation did not cause much surprise, at least not in a sector within the self-proclaimed Fourth Transformation that was banking on the vote in southeastern Mexico to place its most sympathetic candidates.

What was surprising, and what the President made clear with her comment that although the Oaxacan had won, the Constitution gave preference to women, was that despite the machinery of the Batres and their allies, Lenia, Sheinbaum's former advisor in the Tlalpan mayor's office, was not installed as president of the Court.

Message to Murat

A very high-level message has reached Morena Senator Alejandro Murat: he must make peace with the governor of Oaxaca, Salomón Jara Cruz, because his government has identified some attacks not only on his administration, but also on people close to him, such as the consul in Denver, Pável Meléndez.
