Tom Cruise surprises by talking about Nicole Kidman and her most sexual role in 'Eyes Wide Shut'

With the promotion of Mission: Impossible - Final Judgment , Tom Cruise is having time to take stock of his professional and personal career, counting on big names such as his ex-wife, actress Nicole Kidman .

In a recent interview with Sight and Sound magazine, the Hollywood actor surprised everyone by praising the Australian's great acting skills, which led him to suggest her name to play the role of Alice in Eyes Wide Shut , Stanley Kubrick's 1999 erotic thriller.

Cruise met with Kubrick to discuss the film during pre-production. "It was basically him and I getting to know each other. While we were doing that, I suggested Nicole play the role of Alice, because she's obviously a great actress ," Cruise said.

A shoot that Cruise and Kidman will never forget

At the time, Cruise and Kidman were at the height of a relationship that dazzled Hollywood in the 1990s until their tragic split in 2001, so the sexual tension and chemistry between the two permeated the screen , telling the story of Dr. William Hartford and his wife, who were facing infidelity.

" It was a unique experience. We didn't have a very large crew. We arrived in the summer and started auditioning; the script was just an idea. We were constantly rewriting and shooting scenes. Then we would reshoot them to find the tone of the film," the actor now says. It was an experience that Kidman also fondly remembered in the past.

" We filmed for two years. We had two kids and lived mostly in a trailer , making spaghetti because Stanley liked to eat with us sometimes. We were working with the greatest filmmaker and learning about each other's lives and enjoying them on set," Kidman already confessed.

Cruise's new words have surprised both insiders and outsiders , as he has always preferred to keep a low profile regarding his romantic relationships and has practically ignored any allusion to Kidman in recent decades , despite the fact that she has never had a problem remembering a beautiful love story that began on the set of Days of Thunder (1990).

Kidman has been married since 2006 to Australian-American country music singer, songwriter, and guitarist Keith Urban, the father of her two daughters, and has had a contentious relationship with the two children she adopted with Cruise, which appears to have improved in recent years following the loving messages she received from them following the death of their mother.
