What happened to Melissa Joan Hart, Sabrina in 'The Teenage Witch'?

She had already become an icon of youth television in the 1990s when, from 1991 to 1994, she played Clarissa Darling in Clarissa Explains It All , a Nickelodeon series in which she broke the fourth wall to speak directly to a teenage audience about the everyday problems of growing up.

It was shortly after, in 1996, that she achieved worldwide fame by stepping into the skin of Sabrina Spellman, the charismatic teenage witch who starred, for seven years, in Sabrina, the Teenage Witch, establishing Hart as one of the most recognized young actresses of her generation.

However, when the series ended in 2003, the actress's activity declined, and with it, her popularity, although she has always managed to maintain a fond memory among her fans.

In 2005 she married Mark Wilkerson, singer of Course of Nature, with whom she is still married and has three children: Mason (2006), Braydon (2008) and Tucker (2012).

During those years she participated in some television productions such as Dancing with the Stars and the sitcom Melissa & Joey , alongside Joey Lawrence. At the same time, she began directing some episodes and producing small projects with her company, Hartbreak Films, while as a businesswoman she tried to diversify and tried her hand at several things, including clothing lines, her own candy brand, SweetHarts , and the publication of a memoir , Melissa Explains It All ( Melissa explains everything ).

As an actress, she still appears in a few television projects, most notably Christmas movies for Hallmark and Lifetime . In 2023, the Christian Post magazine reported that the actress had founded a production company called MiLu Productions focused on "positive, family-friendly content with a strong Christian focus."

Although the news was denied shortly after, Hart did appear in films such as God's Not Dead 2 and is very active in various charitable and community causes, working with organizations such as Youth Villages, and is a vocal advocate for education and mental health.

Furthermore, her production company, Hartbreak Films, of which her mother is president, does produce content primarily aimed at families, taking care to convey values compatible with the Christian faith .
