A driver's license is a document required by a country's authorities to drive a car without any problems . However, there is one country where this permit is the most expensive in the world. Which one is it, and why is it so expensive?
According to what was published by El Motor, a specialized website, in Singapore owning a car and being able to drive it is a total privilege for a few people .
"In a country where vehicle regulations are extremely strict, the cost of purchasing and maintaining a car has reached historic levels, testing the financial capabilities of the middle class," they note.
Along these lines, Singapore citizens must obtain a Certificate of Equality (COE) , a mandatory permit that grants the right to own a car for five or 10 years. This way, with cars with a higher engine capacity, the price would rise to $111,125.

The previously cited outlet also mentioned the prices of cars in that territory. “A Toyota Camry Hybrid, for example, costs $192,378 in Singapore, while in Europe the same model costs approximately $49,792,” they added. “Added to this are other expenses such as registration fees, taxes, and maintenance , which makes many citizens reconsider the need for a car in a country with a highly efficient public transportation system,” they concluded.
Unusually, used cars don't represent a savings either. Anyone who wants a Kia Cerato will have to shell out $24,896. The average for a small car is about $1,471 a month,” they concluded.
