Juan Ortega wins the José Cubero Yiyo trophy from El Rescoldo over the winner of Colmenar Viejo.

Once the 2025 Los Remedios Bullfighting Fair in Colmenar Viejo has concluded, the jury of the local "El Rescoldo" Bullfighting Club has announced its decision on the trophies for the winner and the best bull of the season.

Juan Ortega has been unanimously awarded the 39th José Cubero 'Yiyo' Trophy for the winner of the Feria. In the opinion of the jury, the Sevillian bullfighter earned this prestigious award thanks to his superb performance at the festival held on Tuesday, September 2, in which he cut the ears of his first Conde de Mayalde bull after a great performance full of bullfighting artistry.

The jury praised Juan Ortega's complete performance: from the cape-style greeting with verónicas, through a very well-tempered pass with tafalleras, to the final flourish of a solid faena, where bullfighting skill, composure, depth, and inspiration were paramount. All of this was capped off with a superb sword thrust.

In the livestock section, the Jury of El Rescoldo also unanimously decided to award the XXXVII 'Toros de Colmenar' Trophy to the best bull of the Fair to 'Guardamonte' , number 1, fought in fourth place on that same September 2 and who offered an extraordinary game, José María Manzanares losing both ears due to the sword.

This is the second time Conde de Mayalde has taken home this trophy. In 2023, 'Haraposo' performed well and was chosen as the winner of the 35th 'Toros de Colmenar' Trophy for the best bull of that Fair.
