Mendoza is below zero: it is the coldest province in the country and there is a yellow alert for extreme temperatures.

Just as the weather forecast predicted, this Monday, June 23, Mendoza faces the coldest day so far in 2025. It even leads the ranking of low temperatures in the country.

The Directorate of Agriculture and Climate Contingencies announces for today: "Flat cloud cover and cold with general frost , light northeasterly winds. Partly cloudy in the mountains." After a low of -1.8°C in Greater Mendoza , the high will be around 13°C.

For its part, the National Meteorological Service issued a yellow alert for extreme temperatures and cold: "They can be dangerous, especially for at-risk groups, such as children, people over 65, and those with chronic illnesses."

In the high mountains, weather conditions have improved, so the Cristo Redentor Pass, the main connection route to Chile, will remain open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

In Uspallata , the temperature was -11°C , while in Las Cuevas it was -19°C.

This Monday, based on the 7 a.m. report, the southern city of Malargüe was the coldest in the country at -5.6°C and a wind chill of -9.7°C. The closest previous record was on May 28 , when it reached -5°C.

In second place in the SMN ranking was La Quiaca (Jujuy) , which recorded -5.1°C. Next, San Rafael (Mendoza) and Marquinchao (Río Negro) had -5°C, while Villa Reynolds (San Luis) and Villa Dolores (Córdoba) showed -3.7°C and -2.2°C, respectively.

The city of Neuquén recorded -2°C, while the Mendoza Observatory (General San Martín Park) reached -1.8°C, as did Trelew (Chubut). The city of Mendoza rounded out the top 10 with -1°C.

For Tuesday , the Climate Contingencies forecast indicates: "Light cloudiness and cold with general frost, light northeasterly winds. Partly cloudy in the mountains." The low will be -1°C, while the high will rise to 16°C.

As for Wednesday , "partly cloudy skies and winds with little change in temperature are expected, with moderate winds from the south. Partly cloudy in the mountains." The minimum temperature will be around 2°C , while the maximum will reach 15°C.
