How the low-cost airline that will offer direct flights from Mendoza to Punta Cana will operate

The airline recently obtained authorization from the Undersecretariat of Air Transport to operate routes linking Córdoba, Mendoza , and Rosario with the Dominican Republic , as part of a memorandum of understanding signed in December 2024 between the aeronautical authorities of both countries.
Punta Cana Dominican Republic

- Why did you decide to expand your offering in Argentina?
The company's decision responds to a demand from the Argentine market, primarily for visiting Punta Cana as a destination, but also for using Punta Cana and Santo Domingo as connecting points to other destinations, such as Miami, Orlando, New York, Puerto Rico, and Chicago, among others within the United States, Central America, and South America.
To date, we have not only expanded the number of frequencies from Buenos Aires to Punta Cana, but we are also going to reestablish the Buenos Aires-Santo Domingo route, which we had, but had directed to Punta Cana. However, there is a desire in the Argentine market to use this route.
- How will direct connections from the interior operate?
- In the specific case of Córdoba, we will begin operating it on December 2nd, and it will have three weekly frequencies: Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. For Mendoza, we haven't yet determined the exact start date, but it will also be this year.
We've also received authorization to fly from Rosario. The next step will be to determine the frequencies and when we can begin operations. We aim to finalize this in August.

Gentleness
- What flights are currently operating in the country?
- From Buenos Aires to Punta Cana, we have a daily round-trip flight. And in November, we began operating the Buenos Aires-Santo Domingo route, with four weekly flights.
Likewise, with Punta Cana as its main destination, there is a luxury bus from this airport that takes you to Santo Domingo, for those who wish to visit the city or spend the night there. This is a safe and comfortable means of transportation that is also an alternative.
Mendoza in the spotlight- Punta Cana is one of the favorite destinations for Mendoza residents in the Caribbean. Did you see this opportunity?
- An interesting fact is that it's becoming more common for Argentine tourists who visit us to split their vacations, spending four or five days in Punta Cana and then connecting to Miami, in the United States, and another Caribbean destination, such as Aruba or Curaçao.
The high level of connectivity we're promoting, the ease of affordable fares, new aircraft, and excellent service have encouraged multi-destination tourism, which we see as a significant growth.
- What distinguishes Arajet's proposal?
- It's a value proposition, but one of high quality. Our rates are among the best on the market. We have some starting at US$229, excluding taxes, per route. And we're constantly presenting different, highly competitive offers that make the Argentine public choose us.
But we also have the newest fleet of aircraft in the Americas and the second newest in the world. We guarantee a high-level of safety, friendly, warm service, and a significant reduction in delays. We aim to ensure that passengers feel comfortable, travel on time, in a safe environment, and with a very attractive fare.
Punta Cana

- Low-cost airlines often offer cheap flights, but when you add baggage or other services, the fare can get quite high. What's the case with you?
- We want passengers to be able to choose how to put together their package, with three levels: smart, comfort, and extra. This choice determines the final fare price based on services such as baggage and seat selection.
A young traveler, who is more adventurous, or a business traveler who is carrying only one personal item can opt for a smart bundle. A family, on the other hand, carrying suitcases for their children can choose the extra.
The difference between one bundle and another is quite reasonable. It varies from date to date, but we make a great effort to keep that difference reasonable.
Note: On a trip from Buenos Aires to Orlando (Miami), the Smart fare (which allows you to bring one personal item and the seat is random) is US$393 each way, while the Comfort fare (which allows you to choose your seat and add 20 kilos of checked baggage) is US$468, and the Extra fare (which adds 12 kilos of carry-on baggage and priority access) is US$532.
- Besides Argentina, are you expanding to other locations?
- We're present across the continent. In South America, we have a presence in Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, and we'll soon be opening in Uruguay, where I expect to begin serving Montevideo in December 2026.
In Central America we are in El Salvador, Guatemala, Costa Rica, and in North America in Mexico, Canada (Montreal) and the United States, where we have opened the destinations New York, San Juan (Puerto Rico) and Miami, and starting at the end of October we will begin flying to Chicago, Boston and Orlando.
In the Caribbean, in addition to Punta Cana and Santo Domingo, we visited Aruba, Curaçao, and Saint Martin.
- And they are a recently born airline…
- On September 15th, we're celebrating our third anniversary. And to celebrate, we're launching some special offers and a special edition of our Conexiones magazine. By the way, the August edition is dedicated to Argentina.
