This Friday, May 16, is the deadline for Bogotá taxpayers to pay their vehicle tax with a 10% discount. The District Treasury Department reminded everyone that this benefit applies to all owners who make timely payments, whether online or in person.
It's worth noting that this measure is part of a tax incentive strategy with which the District seeks to strengthen collection and facilitate compliance with this annual obligation, following processes that have already yielded results on previous occasions.

During this final day, citizens can make their payment online by entering the official portal of the Ministry of Finance and accessing the 'Bogotá Payments' button, where it is possible to check the status of the obligation, generate the invoice and make the payment securely or if they prefer in person they can go to the authorized banking entities with their printed invoice, or go to the Specialized Attention Day that takes place until today at 22B Street # 31-43, between 7:00 am and 4:30 pm
Aleida Fonseca, Deputy Director of Tax Education, reiterated the invitation to all taxpayers to use the available channels and extended the call "to everyone to make their payments through the PCE button on our website or in person. The support hours will be open until 4:30 p.m. to provide support to those who need it."

A total of 2,328,790 vehicles must declare and pay the tax this year. Of these vehicles, 56,196 are electric and hybrid vehicles. In addition to the general 10% discount, they also benefit from specific tax benefits provided for in Agreement 780 of 2020. These benefits apply only to vehicles registered between 2021 and 2030 and vary depending on the vehicle category.
For private electric vehicles, the tax discount is 60%; for new electric taxis, it is 70%; and for electric hybrids, it is 40%. However, it is important to note that gas hybrid vehicles are not included in these tax breaks and therefore do not receive the same preferential treatment.

The Ministry of Finance explained that this initiative to provide differentiated benefits responds to the district's policy of promoting clean mobility, as it reduces the tax on vehicles that generate fewer emissions and, in turn, helps incentivize the energy transition in the city's vehicle fleet, aligning with the sustainability goals set by Bogotá within its environmental and urban development agenda.
For those unable to make their payment today, the tax can still be paid without a discount until July 25. However, the administration insists that the 10% reduction represents significant relief and an incentive for those who meet their tax obligations early.

In addition to the financial incentive, the Ministry of Finance has emphasized that the resources raised through this tax are essential for public investment, as these funds are allocated to road infrastructure projects, urban maintenance, mobility programs, security, and other key services for the city's functioning. Therefore, the institutional message of this campaign has been clear: "Your 10% really adds up."
“Bogotá continues to invest in tools that simplify procedures and promote a culture of timely payment. With digital platforms, specialized workshops, and tiered discounts, the capital seeks to consolidate a more efficient, transparent, and citizen-oriented tax system. The administration's final call is to not miss this deadline and take advantage of the last day of the discount,” concluded Aleida Fonseca.
