Profeco reveals the best quality toilet paper in Mexico

Last January, the Federal Consumer Protection Agency (Profeco) released the results of its most recent quality study on toilet paper, one of the most common household products. According to the publication, 33 types of toilet paper from 24 brands available on the market in Mexico were analyzed.

Profeco's analysis evaluated from the resistance of the so-called "roll" to the absorption and disintegration capacity, with the aim of guiding consumers towards an informed purchase.

What did Profeco analyze in toilet paper?

The study focused on conventional toilet paper rolls, patterned toilet paper, and scented toilet paper. Among the aspects evaluated were weight, number of sheets per roll, dry and wet strength, whiteness, net weight, absorbency, and water dissolution.

The BEST quality toilet paper in Mexico

Profeco found that all samples met the labeling and net content requirements. However, in terms of performance and quality, some brands stood out above average. These are:

• Regio, overall, scored highly for strength and absorption
• Member's Mark and Great Value stood out for their number of sheets per roll and good wet strength
• Elite was one of the best tested in dry resistance
• Petal also showed good overall performance

On the other hand, some brands showed deficiencies in resistance or absorption, although without serious non-compliance.

Profeco recommends consumers check the number of sheets per roll, as a higher number does not always imply better performance if the sheets are thinner or more fragile.
