The national government launched a key system for buying directly from the factory: what you can bring and how much it costs.

In a new attempt to boost the regional economy and modernize distribution mechanisms, thenational government officially announced this Tuesday the creation of a simplified system that will allow consumers in the rest of the country to purchase products manufactured in Tierra del Fuego more easily and with fewer bureaucratic obstacles.
The measure was established by Decree 334/2025 , published in the Official Gazette , and aims directly to reduce the administrative burden on products from the Special Customs Area , a regime that for decades operated with strong restrictions on the transfer of merchandise to the continent.
The new scheme allows individuals residing in the Continental National Territory to purchase up to three units of the same product per year, provided the FOB value (i.e., the value at origin without taxes or shipping) does not exceed US$3,000 per shipment . The regime's exclusive condition is that the products are for personal use , so resale is expressly prohibited .
One of the key changes is the requirement that companies in Tierra del Fuego enable an online sales system , accessible to buyers throughout the country. This seeks to create a direct channel between manufacturers and end consumers, eliminating intermediaries and facilitating transactions.
The Ministry of Industry and Commerce will have the flexibility to adjust the limits of the regime—both in terms of product quantity and shipment value—based on demand, technological developments, and market behavior . This gives the system flexibility that will allow it to adapt to different economic situations.
According to the Executive, the current regime was " bureaucratic and cumbersome ," which hindered the growth potential of Tierra del Fuego 's industrial assets, whose geographic location and tax status have always been a barrier to its integration with the rest of the country.
Now, with this initiative, the government aims to promote domestic consumption of products from that region, boost their competitiveness against imported products, and bring products such as household appliances, electronics, cell phones, and textiles manufactured under the tax benefits of the Fuegian hub closer to ordinary consumers.
The operations will be supervised by the Customs Collection and Control Agency (ARCA) , which must implement a simplified documentation procedure , in line with current tax and customs regulations.
In short, this is a measure that seeks not only to stimulate production in the south of the country , but also to democratize access to high-demand domestic products, in a context where digitalization and efficiency are gaining ground as central axes of economic policy.
