Patricia Phelps de Cisneros Collection launches research guide

The Patricia Phelps de Cisneros Collection (CPPC) announced the launch of the Cisneros Research Guide , the first bilingual research tool developed by The Museum of Modern Art ( MoMA ) that offers public access to a curated selection of more than 200 digital resources from the CPPC archive .
This pioneering platform ensures long-term accessibility of key materials on Latin American art and culture, available in both Spanish and English on the MoMA Archives, Library, and Research Collections website.
The Cisneros Research Guide brings together materials from the CPPC digital archive and information about Patricia Phelps de Cisneros's gifts to MoMA 's art collection, as well as the ongoing activities of the Cisneros Institute, a research center dedicated to Latin American art within the Museum.

This platform will also continue to grow with the addition of new CPPC materials, including future research, publications and digital resources, available in both Spanish and English.
"Since its inception, CPPC has been committed to education and the dissemination of art and ideas across borders," says art collector and philanthropist Patricia Phelps de Cisneros.
"Over the years, we have sought new ways to reach a wider audience through innovative, internationally recognized publications and digital platforms.
However, digital materials are fragile , and without active preservation efforts, their content is at risk of being lost.
This collaboration with MoMA is therefore a major step towards ensuring that the voices and stories that have shaped the art and culture of Latin America and the Caribbean remain accessible to future generations."
"We are proud to be a part of preserving this unique set of digital resources and promoting their accessibility through the Cisneros Research Guide . In this way, together with our archives and bibliographic collections, we will deepen our understanding of modern and contemporary art," says Michelle Elligott, head of Archives, Library and Research Collections at MoMA .
"This collaboration reinforces our commitment to research on the art of Latin America and our mission to connect a global audience with essential documentation of the art of our time," says a press release.

Since the beginning of the 20th century, the Colección Patricia Phelps de Cisneros (CPPC) has promoted its research and dissemination mission through its online platform, which has hosted audiovisual recordings of interviews with artists, academic conferences, round tables, and curatorial analyses on the art and material culture of Latin America and the Caribbean.
In 2019, CPPC and MoMA began discussions around the need to protect digitally recorded materials and the importance of expanding public access to research on art and culture.
As a result, in 2022, the CPPC donated a selection of digital archives to the museum, ensuring their preservation through the museum's cutting-edge digital preservation tools.
In this sense, the Cisneros Research Guide expands the efforts of both entities by providing centralized, bilingual access to an extensive collection of research materials, including audiovisual recordings, scholarly publications, and curated documentation on the activities of the CPPC and the MoMA Cisneros Institute.
