Congressman denounces government's attempt to approve US$615 million in loans

The national deputy of the Dominican Revolutionary Party ( PRD ), Ramón Raposo , denounced this Thursday that the Government is seeking approval of $615 million in loans just hours before the end of the legislative session in the National Congress.
The legislator stated that these are three loan contracts that are on the agenda for the Chamber of Deputies to be approved, which exceed 37 billion pesos .
Raposo described it as a "blow to the Dominican people that the government is using its mechanical majority in the National Congress to take out $615 million in loans when society is immersed in and waiting for the approval of the Penal Code and other laws that would make a great contribution to society."
The congressman recalled that this government has been characterized by its " excessive policy of borrowing" and low public investment to the detriment of citizens.
- This legislative session is scheduled to end next Saturday, July 26 , and public opinion is focused on the outcome of the proposed Penal Code, which has been lingering in Congress for 30 years.
