Facundo Jones Huala was arrested again in Río Negro, this time in a case of "inciting violence and justifying crime."

Activist Facundo Jones Huala was arrested again tonight by the Federal Police in the town of El Bolsón, Río Negro, almost five months after his last arrest in the same province. This new arrest was ordered by a federal prosecutor's office following a complaint alleging sympathy for crime.
The new arrest was announced tonight by National Security Minister Patricia Bullrich, who stated that "the people of southern Argentina deserve to live in peace and that this time they won't let him go."
Jones Huala, who presents himself as the leader of a group calling itself Mapuche Ancestral Resistance that emerged in mid-2005, was placed at the disposal of the federal court in San Carlos de Bariloche, where a prosecutor's office is investigating a case for the crimes of public intimidation, incitement to collective violence, apology for crime, and criminal association .
The investigation began based on a complaint filed by Minister Patricia Bullrich.

Meanwhile, Fernando Soto, the national director of Judicial Regulation and Liaison, emphasized tonight that "Jones Huala commits acts of terrorism , identifies himself as Mapuche, but sets forests on fire and does not recognize the Argentine State."
"The Ministry of Security has reported him for condoning crime . Now he's back in prison," the official emphasized.
Security filed a complaint against Bariloche resident Jones Huala after he returned from Chile, where he served a four-year prison sentence, and presented a book he wrote in prison, titled "Behind Bars, Incendiary Antipoetry."
In presenting his work, Jones Huala claimed responsibility for "the sabotage and arson attacks on the infrastructure of the capitalist system, of transnational corporations, of landowners."
And he tried to gain the sympathy of his audience by maintaining that this incendiary group "has never attacked our environment or its people. They say we're setting fire to the forests where our people live. All lies. We never have, nor would we ever do it."
In Chile, he was detained precisely for having set fire to the home of a caretaker of a rural development.
Last January, Jones Huala was also arrested when, according to the governor's office, he attempted to break into parked vehicles in El Bolsón, which led to incidents with the police.
