In response to the provinces' demands, the National Government will resume negotiations with the governors.

After canceling President Javier Milei 's trip to Tucumán to participate in the July 9th vigil, theNational Government hopes to resume negotiations with provincial governors after the holiday to renew support in Congress. Currently, the governors of the 23 provinces and the City of Buenos Aires have agreed to jointly push for a bill to secure more funding for their districts due to the lack of contributions from the National Treasury (ATN).

According to TN, the talks are expected to begin on Thursday the 10th, just after the national holiday. Furthermore, the Casa Rosada (Presidential Palace) assured that " they will not attempt to halt the opposition's advance in the Senate ," but will instead seek to reach a new agreement with the governors to reject the initiatives and uphold the vetoes in the Chamber of Deputies. For now, the government hopes to form a coalition that will garner the necessary 87 votes in the Lower House to reject the initiatives.

Once again, the negotiations would be led by Chief of Staff Guillermo Francos , who will work alongside Karina Milei, Secretary General of the Presidency and sister of the president. One of the cards the government leadership could play is the fiscal pact proposed by the president, which would include changes to the sharing of the Fuel Tax and the regularization of Treasury transfers, in order to delay the debate over provincial funds.

The president and his Cabinet canceled their trip to Tucumán at the last minute to lead the Independence Day vigil due to adverse weather conditions. During his brief stay in the northern province, Milei was scheduled to meet with governors Osvaldo Jaldo of Tucumán; Raúl Jalil of Catamarca; and vice governors Alicia Aluani of Entre Ríos; and Myriam Prunotto of Córdoba.

A year ago, the president led the festivities in the capital of Tucumán, accompanied by 18 governors. Together with them, he signed the May Pact, a commitment with refoundational aspirations that ultimately failed to have the expected impact. This year, the Nationalist government argued that the limited presence of governors in Tucumán is due to " a very different context than in 2024. " Regarding the President's Independence Day agenda, he will maintain the national broadcast along with the military band festival, which will take place at the Military Equestrian Field starting at 2:30 p.m.
