President Abinader launches the 2025 National Republic of Ideas Competition

President Luis Abinader led the launch of the " Republic of Ideas 2025" National Competition on Thursday, an open call for Dominican citizens, both in the country and in the diaspora, as well as foreigners residing in the Dominican Republic, with proposals aimed at the development of the nation by 2036.
"Today we begin one of the most beautiful and valuable initiatives in our history. This is not simply a competition ... Today we begin the construction of something much greater: a Republic of Ideas ," the president said during his speech.
He said the country is being built "with everyone and for everyone ," emphasizing that "The Dominican Republic of 2036 that we long for will not be the result of chance or the work of a few. It will be the collective work of a generation that understands its historical responsibility."
The competition seeks to promote collective thinking and citizen participation in the development of public policies and initiatives in three areas:
Who can participate?
Dominicans over 18 years of age , members of the diaspora abroad, foreigners with legal residence in the Dominican Republic, civil organizations, students , professionals or citizens with public interest may apply.
Awards and incentivesA total of 50 finalist teams will receive between $1,000 and $2,000 to attend an idea camp to be held in November in Santo Domingo.
In this space, they will receive mentoring and technical support to strengthen their proposals.
In January 2026, during the National Expo , six national winners will be selected, first and second place in each idea maturity category.
The prizes will be $25,000 for first place and $15,000 for second place.

In his remarks, President Abinader made a direct appeal to all sectors of society , especially students, to join this initiative.
"We call upon the student who has a solution to prevent school dropouts. The farmer who has found an innovative way to increase productivity. The entrepreneur who dreams of turning a small business into a competitive force. Every woman, every young person, every worker, every dreamer. Today the country is calling you; this is your moment," the head of state stated.
Abinader thanked allied institutions , governors, ministries, members of the diaspora, and businessman Mike Bloomberg for their support of this vision.
