In a clear sign of political alignment and agenda, the Green Ecologist Party of Mexico (PVEM) in the State of Mexico publicly expressed its support and recognition this Tuesday, May 20, for the actions undertaken by Governor Delfina Gómez Álvarez to promote animal welfare in the state. This statement highlights the current state administration's commitment to an issue of growing social sensitivity.

The PVEM (Mexican People's Party) not only offered recognition but also reaffirmed its commitment to continue promoting, through the local legislature, a set of initiatives focused on guaranteeing the comprehensive protection of sentient beings. This legislative agenda seeks to strengthen the state's regulatory framework to prevent animal abuse and ensure decent living conditions for animals.

One of the central proposals that the Green Party will vigorously promote is the regulation of animal sales in the State of Mexico. The objective of this initiative is to establish strict controls on the pet and other animal trade, ensuring that it is carried out under decent conditions, preventing overpopulation and abandonment, and effectively combating the clandestine trade and so-called "puppy mills."

This recognition by the PVEM (Mexican Party) of Governor Gómez's work in the area of animal welfare can be interpreted as a demonstration of collaboration and political alignment on specific issues. In a state as complex and populated as the State of Mexico, having the support of diverse political forces is essential for the governor when promoting her public policies.

The push for laws to regulate the sale of animals and ensure their welfare is a growing trend at the national and international levels. However, the effectiveness of these regulations will depend crucially on the enforcement capacity of the competent authorities, the allocation of sufficient resources for their implementation, and the willingness to confront potential economic interests linked to unregulated animal trade. Furthermore, citizen education and awareness will play a decisive role in fostering a culture of respect and responsible animal ownership.

This focus on animal welfare comes at a time when Governor Delfina Gómez is also addressing other priority areas, such as security. Just on Monday, May 19, the governor led the delivery of new, modern security equipment to the Civil Guard in the municipality of Naucalpan, reaffirming her commitment to strengthening the police forces.

Regarding legislative activity, although the specific reports for the State of Mexico Congress on May 20 do not detail plenary sessions (some snippets indicate recent recesses or activity in other states), it is likely that initiatives such as the regulation of animal sales will be worked on in committees before being presented to the plenary session.

The collaboration between the state executive branch and political forces like the PVEM (Poverty Reduction Party) on animal welfare issues is a positive sign that could translate into concrete progress for the protection of sentient beings in the State of Mexico.
