The Government increases the pressure against Mazón: “We cannot tolerate more lies”

The latest version given to date by the president of the Generalitat Valenciana, Carlos Mazón, about the time he arrived at Cecopi on the day of the attack, has provoked an angry reaction from the central government demanding “his resignation once and for all” arguing that “they cannot tolerate any more lies”.
In this regard, the leader of the Valencian socialists and Minister of Science, Diana Morant, has focused on the fact that Mazón “did not answer that day the calls of the then vice president of Ecological Transition, Teresa Ribera, claiming that she was out of coverage at a Cecopi where she now says she was not”. “And what I am saying is that we cannot stand any more lies. I put myself in the shoes of the relatives of the deceased people who are desperate, who have surely gone through the worst tragedy of their lives and who cannot stand it any more”, added the general secretary of the Valencian socialists.
“The people of Valencia cannot stand the president of the Generalitat and every time he goes out they remind him of this. They cannot bear the pain of what has happened and the pain of seeing their top official lie to them day after day. That is why we have defended from day one that it is Mr Feijóo who has to remove Mr Mazón.”

Compromís, a coalition partner of Sumar, has not spared its criticism either. “Mazón wants to take us for fools and continues to lie about his arrival at Cecopi.” According to the Valencian party from the Congress of Deputies, and after the president said that he arrived after 7:00 p.m., his latest version contradicts the messages that were sent to Minister Ribera and to which Mazón replied saying that he could not respond because he did not have coverage at Cecopi “when he was not there.” “The PP has already assumed that the responsibility is theirs and what they want now is to see who they blame and who is responsible for it. It is a disgrace for the Valencians to see how the PP is in a Cainite struggle to see who bears the 227 deaths,” denounced Àgueda Micó.
The parliamentary spokesperson for Compromís has dismantled several of the “lies” spread by Mazón in recent weeks, recalling that “the responsibility for emergencies lies with the Generalitat or that participation in the cecopi could be done online”. “We still don’t know where he was when people were drowning at home, in cars and at work”, she lamented.
The Valencian party's distribution of blame includes the national leader of the PP, who they consider responsible. Compromís sources added that Mazón's actions respond to a "judicial strategy in a desperate attempt to get rid of the responsibility to transfer it to another member of his cabinet."
The spokesman for Esquerra Republicana de Catalunya (ERC), Gabriel Rufián, has described Mazón as "useless, a liar and a political zombie" and has asked "please" that he "go" for his handling of the Dana.
