Huawei revolutionizes its TVs: Mate TV debuts Kirin 9020 chip

At its latest event in China, Huawei not only unveiled its new Mate XTs Ultimate Design foldable smartphone, it also made a splash in the smart TV sector. The new Huawei Mate TV range comes equipped with the Kirin 9020 chip , the same processor as its most premium phones, marking a turning point in TV performance.
This move is no coincidence. For years, users and experts have been demanding that televisions improve their internal power, beyond just image quality. Huawei listened and responded.
For the first time in the industry, a manufacturer has integrated a high-end smartphone chip into a television. The result: 490% better performance than previous generations of Huawei Smart Screen.
The Mate TV combines the Kirin 9020 with the independent Honghu Vivid chip, which specializes in processing 4K content in real time, automatically adjusting contrast and brightness. This translates to fluidity for menus, apps, high-end mobile gaming, and even digital content creation.
The range includes two versions:
- Huawei Mate TV Standard: 8GB RAM + 128GB storage.
- Huawei Mate TV Pro: 12GB RAM + 256GB, with UFS storage that launches apps in just 2 seconds.
The MiniLED LCD display boasts a 144Hz refresh rate and a maximum brightness of 4,200 nits , ideal for cinema and gaming. Its ultra-thin 36.9mm design allows it to be installed almost flush with a wall.
Huawei wants the Mate TV to be more than just a TV. Its new Lingxi Remote Control 2 improves accuracy by 33%. It also includes accessories like the Lingxi Floating Touch , a touchpad with haptic feedback, and the Lingxi Stylus , which turns the screen into a digital canvas.
Sound also makes a difference:
- Standard version: 6 speakers 2.2 with Huawei Histen.
- Pro Version: 9 3.2.2 speakers with Huawei Sound, including top channels for surround sound.
The TV runs HarmonyOS 5.1 , integrating artificial intelligence for suggestions, parental controls, and personalized profiles using facial and voice recognition. The experience isn't limited to watching movies: it becomes a control center for the Huawei ecosystem in the home.
- Huawei Mate TV Standard (65 inches): 8,999 yuan (€1,075).
- Huawei Mate TV Pro (98 inches): 30,999 yuan (€3,705).
Sales begin on September 26 in China . The brand has not yet confirmed international availability.
