Mafia: The Old Country won't be short or low-quality, says Hangar 13.

When Hangar 13 and 2K Games revealed the price of Mafia: The Old Country— $49.99/€49.99—many fans wondered if this title would be a short or low-quality experience. The price, lower than the standard for current AAA games, raised questions on social media: Will it be another disappointment disguised as nostalgia?
But Nick Baynes, president of Hangar 13, was blunt. In an interview with IGN, he clarified that the price shouldn't be interpreted as a sign of lower quality: "This game oozes AAA quality. I don't think anyone will look at it and say, 'Wow, that looks cheap,'" he explained. He added, "It has all the depth you'd expect in terms of dialogue, world, and experience."
Baynes made it clear that Mafia: The Old Country follows the lines of the franchise's earlier titles, both in scale and scope. He didn't reveal an exact runtime, but assured fans that they can expect an experience as solid as Mafia 1 or Mafia 2 . "It's not three hours, like some people think. If you're expecting something like Mafia 1, you'll be delighted," he said.
Hangar 13's focus is on delivering a compact, well-written, and visually stunning story. Although the game won't be open-world, it promises an intense narrative that will transport players to the heart of organized crime.
The most recent 9-minute trailer sparked mixed reactions. While some celebrated the return to classic Mafia style, others lamented the lack of an open world. Hangar 13 hasn't ignored these opinions, but maintains its narrative and linear approach as a hallmark of this installment. The release date is set: August 8 , when Mafia: The Old Country will be released to the public so players can experience for themselves whether the promise of quality is fulfilled.
