'Chicharito' Hernández reappears on social media

Chivas de Guadalajara forward Javier "Chicharito" Hernández returned to social media with posts on his Instagram account, after issuing a statement in which he expressed his regret for the reaction his comments provoked, which contribute to reinforcing gender stereotypes, especially regarding how men should behave and what role women are assigned within that same structure.

In an interview format, " Chicharito " collaborated with María Gómez who, according to her biography, is an " integrative psychologist and functional nutritionist."

"Linked to the impact of the videos I posted on my social media, I set out to find women who specialize in the topic of masculine and feminine energy," the red-and-white footballer asserted.

The full interview lasts 13:50 minutes, during which Hernández Balcázar asks the specialist if she felt "offended" by the rhetoric she's shared in recent weeks.

They even touched on the topic of fatherhood . In that segment, the Rebaño Sagrado forward stated that he has never been in debt and that, out of respect for the family he built in the past, he wouldn't speak further on the subject; he would simply clarify it.

"Since I got divorced, I haven't owed anything in child support. I see my children completely within the agreed-upon time we had. [...] I have many things I could say, but I respect the woman and the mother of my children so much. And I also respect my children so much that I don't want to talk about anything at all, just to clarify," Hernández concluded.

Hernández Balcázar's recent videos sparked a mixed reaction, with Mexican soccer fans supporting him and questioning the narrative of "masculine and feminine energy" as it, once again, falls back on gender stereotypes.

Before the red-and-white striker expressed regret over the response his words provoked, the Mexican Football Federation ( FMF ) criticized him for the media violence his speech sparked , calling it a "sexist stereotype."

"The FMF's Gender and Diversity Commission announces that it has initiated an investigation to prevent and punish this type of conduct, determining to impose a fine and a warning on Javier 'El Chicharito' Hernández, stating that this Commission will take more severe measures in the event of a repeat offense," the FMF stated.

Chivas Femenil players also questioned Hernández Balcázar's statements . Among them were Blanca Félix, Daniela Delgado, Jaqueline Rodríguez, and Joselyn de la Rosa, who shared a video of activist Mariana Valle.

For its part, the red and white board did not want to mention " Chicharito " by name , but published a statement in which it reaffirmed its commitment to gender equality and promised to take action , as dictated by the team's internal regulations.

While the Sacred Flock is competing in the Leagues Cup, Javier Hernández is out of the squad due to injury.
