118 Atlético Madrid fans who threw bottles and furniture in a bar area in Vitoria have been identified and returned to Madrid.

A total of 118 Atlético de Madrid fans were identified this Saturday in Vitoria and returned by bus to the Spanish capital after throwing bottles and furniture at a restaurant. These radical fans, allegedly from the so-called Frente Atlético (Atlético Madrid Front ), were seized with numerous "materials used to provoke disturbances," such as gloves with metal bearings and sticks, according to the Basque Government's Security Department.
In a statement, the Security Department indicated that the security deployment established by the Ertzaintza (Basque Police) for the match scheduled for this Saturday between Alavés and Atlético de Madrid in Vitoria, to prevent potential incidents in the capital of Álava, led to the interception of a large group of people around 8:30 a.m. this morning.
Security has indicated that the group involved radical fans, allegedly from the so-called Frente Atlético, who approached a bar area where the local Alavés fans usually gather and threw bottles and furniture from a restaurant in an initial incident, which resulted in no injuries.
The Ertzaintza (Basque Nationalist Force) intervened to prevent any confrontation and identified the 118 visiting ultras, seizing the equipment they were carrying, including flags with PVC poles, wooden poles, balaclavas, spray cans, gloves with reinforced knuckles, and metal ball bearings inserted into socks, among other dangerous objects, as well as various ultra symbols.
The Autonomous Police have coordinated with the visiting team's security officers and other police forces. In response to these violent actions, the two buses carrying these individuals were escorted back to their hometown, Madrid. Once they left Álava, the Civil Guard took charge of the two aforementioned buses.
Security has indicated that all identified individuals will be subject to reports and proposed sanctions under the Sports Law. It has added that the Ertzaintza operation will continue to be deployed this Saturday, due to the La Liga football match between Deportivo Alavés and Atlético de Madrid at the Mendizorroza football ground.
Meanwhile, staff at the Vitoria bar where this group of ultras targeted the club told Europa Press that when they arrived to open the bar, the terrace furniture was lying around and the area had been littered.
The same sources have indicated that these ultras were apparently waiting for the Alavés fans, and local residents have explained that the Ertzaintza (Basque Police) subsequently took them to a square where they remained for a while, until they were finally returned to Madrid by bus.
