Adrián Marcelo launches a fundraiser to buy out Santos Laguna and proposes a trust with local businesses.

The sporting and administrative crisis facing Santos Laguna following its second-to-last place in the 2025 Clausura and the recent departure of Fernando Ortiz as head coach has generated uncertainty among fans.
Although the club has already appointed a new coach, the project appears to have no clear direction, and the management, headed by Grupo Orlegi, has been the subject of constant criticism.
Amid this context, influencer Adrián Marcelo surprised everyone by launching a public campaign to acquire the Comarca Lagunera club.
Known for his participation in entertainment programs and his avowed love of soccer, Marcelo started a fundraiser on his social media with the goal of "saving" Santos Laguna.
“Together we can make history. Make your donation. Let 's save Santos Laguna!” the Monterrey native posted on his digital platforms, where he has millions of followers.
The movement includes a website with a specific section for receiving financial contributions, ranging from 20 to 1,000 pesos.
Beyond the fundraising effort, Adrián Marcelo announced his intention to lead a sports project as club president , asserting that he has the knowledge, vision, and contacts necessary to rebuild the institution.
Their proposal includes the creation of a trust backed by leading regional companies such as LALA, Peñoles, Soriana , and representatives of the textile sector.
“I would like to organize a trust or board of trustees and together we can save Santos de la Laguna,” he wrote on his X account, where he also claimed to have in-depth knowledge of the professional footballer’s profile and to have the strategic, financial and administrative tools to lead the project.
The initiative has sparked controversy and division among fans. While some dismiss the proposal as a media stunt without any real basis, others see it as a legitimate call to action in the face of the current ownership group's lack of results.
Even the confrontation with detractors on social media has been constant, fueling the debate about the seriousness of the plan.
To date, Grupo Orlegi has not issued an official position on a possible sale of the club.
However, Adrián Marcelo 's proposal has achieved national visibility and has brought the need for a profound transformation in Santos Laguna's management model to the forefront of the conversation.
