Carles Pérez explains how he suffered a bite on his genitals: "I was trying to separate my dog from another one."

Spanish soccer player Carles Pérez, a player for Aris Salonika, was discharged from the hospital on Thursday after being bitten on his genitals last Wednesday. The athlete, now at home, issued a statement confirming that he is doing well and explaining how the dog attack occurred .

"I was unlucky enough to suffer a bite on the inside of my leg while trying to separate my dog from another dog during a minor incident ," the former Barcelona and Celta de Vigo player wrote on his Instagram account.

The 27-year-old forward was hospitalized the day he suffered the attack and was released on Thursday. " I'm very sorry I can't be with the team on the field for tonight's game . My support will be in the stands today," Pérez said.

Due to this incident, the Spaniard missed the second leg of the second round of qualifying for the Conference League on Thursday , in which his team faced Araz-Naxcivan of Azerbaijan, who won the first leg 2-1. The match ended in a 2-2 draw.

The Spaniard stated that his injury "required stitches, which, although not serious , prevented him from playing in the match." However, he assured that "in a couple of days" he'll be back "more eager than ever to help the team."

Greek media reported on Thursday, citing sources from Aris's team, that Perez had been diagnosed with a soft tissue infection , resulting from a bite wound on his genitals.
