Golden triumph for Jalisco native Kenny Zamudio in Asunción 2025

Mexican sports have once again shined on the international stage thanks to another triumph for Jalisco. Kenny Zamudio was crowned champion by standing atop the podium in the demanding 10-meter individual platform event at the Asunción 2025 Junior Pan American Games, thereby securing his place at the Lima 2027 Pan American Games.

The 10-meter platform event requires concentration, technique, and courage. Kenny Zamudio proved once again that determination and discipline can overcome any obstacle . From the start of the competition, Zamudio faced challenges, falling behind in the early rounds. However, far from giving up, the Jalisco native remained calm and focused on each performance.

Zamudio started with performances that landed him below the top three, so everything pointed to a very difficult day. However, the Jalisco diver would have the resources to prove why he's one of the best exponents of the sport at the youth level.

From the fourth round onwards, Kenny began to execute more difficult jumps , which were positively acknowledged by the judges, and from that moment on, he never let go of the top.

In both the fifth and sixth rounds, Zamudio presented the highest difficulty scores of 3.7 and 3.8, with no one daring to match him. Ultimately, the Mexican athlete finished with 467.75 points , leaving behind Canadian Benjamin Tessier (463.40) and Cuban Carlos Ramos (454.45), who took silver and bronze, respectively.

In the same event, another Mexican also competed. Emilio Treviño from Nuevo León had a more difficult performance, finishing in sixth place with 382.90 points. He was the only one who also had a jump of 3.7, but unlike Zamudio, he earned low scores, which cost him a place on the podium.
