Lamine, Pedri, and Fabián Ruiz are the only Spanish candidates for the Ballon d'Or.

Paris seeks heir to Rodrigo Hernández . France Football magazine announced yesterday the list of candidates for the Ballon d'Or, an award whose presentation date has been brought forward to September 22 this year. Spanish football, which enjoyed significant prominence last year with Rodrigo and Carvajal among the best, is vying for the award this year with only three candidates among the 30 chosen. The nominees are PSG midfielder Fabián Ruiz and Barcelona players Lamine Yamal and Pedri .

Vinicius also appears on the list of candidates, having refused to attend the ceremony last year after being told he wasn't the winner. In retaliation, Real Madrid did not attend the event organized in the French capital.

The remaining selections for the best player are Robert Lewandowski (Barcelona), Raphinha (Barcelona), Dembélé (PSG), Donnarumma (PSG), Jude Bellingham (Real Madrid), Désiré Doué (PSG), Dumfries (Inter Milan), Haaland (Manchester City), Guirassy (Borussia Dortmund), Gyökeres (Arsenal), Hakimi ( PSG), Harry Kane (Bayern Munich), Kvaratskhelia (PSG), Mac Allister (Liverpool), Lautaro Martínez (Inter Milan), Scott McTominay (Naples), Kylian Mbappé (Real Madrid), Nuno Mendes (PSG), Joao Neves (PSG), Cole Palmer (Chelsea), Michael Olise (Bayern Munich), Declan Rice (Arsenal), Van Dijk (Liverpool), Salah (Liverpool), Florian Wirtz (Liverpool) and Vitinha (PSG).

Lamine Yamal, winner of the Kopa trophy, the Ballon d'Or for under 21s, in 2024, is again among the candidates for the 2025 award. In this section, his teammate Pau Cubarsí and Real Madrid player Dean Huijsen also stand out.

Luis Enrique is the favorite to win the Cruyff Award for best coach of last season, a title that Barcelona's German Hansi Flick is also a candidate for.
