Morena member Sandra Anaya is under scrutiny after videos of her international travels.

MORELOS (apro) .- Morena representative Sandra Anaya Villegas shared her travels around the world on social media, which included the Great Wall in Beijing, Paris, Amsterdam, and the Netherlands, as well as Central Park in New York. These posts revived criticism of the luxurious and ostentatious vacations of some Morena members, which are a far cry from the republican austerity promoted by the Fourth Transformation movement.
The controversy arose after the Morelos legislator posted a video on her personal TikTok account on August 13 showing her exercise routine at the Great Wall of China, accompanied by the song "Viajando por el mundo" by Karol G and Manu Chao. The video was shared with the hashtags #sueñocumplido and #murallachina.
A few hours after posting, the video, which had already accumulated more than 1,500 views, was deleted from her account and her profile was subsequently made private.
A review of his TikTok account reveals evidence of other international trips: on August 16 of last year, just two weeks before the start of the legislative session, he appeared in Santorini, Greece; on October 26, Paris was the setting for his images; and on February 15, New York, where he was seen first playing in the snow in Central Park and then gazing at the city from a room with a panoramic view.
Her routine at the Great Wall of China sparked outraged comments about what citizens consider a double standard: on the one hand, the Fourth Transformation promotes austerity; on the other, the congresswoman makes these types of trips.
As a federal representative, Anaya receives a net monthly salary of 79,000 pesos, a stipend intended to cover expenses associated with the performance of her legislative duties. Previously, as Secretary of Administration, she earned 70,000 pesos monthly. Therefore, she questions whether this income would be enough to cover so many international travel expenses.
In response, the legislator clarified in a live broadcast that her trip to China was not recent, but took place almost three years ago, and emphasized that she was not even a member of Congress at the time.
Anaya Villegas comes from a family that owns a chain of seafood restaurants in Cuernavaca under the La Tía Licha brand and was a candidate for city council in the 2022 electoral process for the Social Encounter Party (PES).
In September 2021, after losing the election to the PES, Sandra assumed the position of Secretary of Administration during Cuauhtémoc Blanco Bravo's six-year term, becoming one of the cabinet members with the closest ties and greatest influence on the president.
Months later, she joined Morena in Morelos and, in August 2022, promoted her sister Noemí Anaya Villegas to state councilor.
On February 29, 2024, she resigned as Secretary of Administration to become a candidate for federal deputy for Morena, taking the oath of office on September 1 of that same year.
Journalist threatened for revealing alleged corruptionOn October 23, 2024, Anaya was charged with acquiring land near Lake Tequesquitengo for less than market value as part of an alleged corruption scheme within the Tequesquitengo Lake Trust (FITEQ), and with incurring a conflict of interest by serving on the trust committee.
Three days later, during a group interview with journalist Gerardo Suárez, who had revealed the irregular land purchase, Anaya challenged him to present evidence, warning of possible lawsuits: "Not me, not me, not with me, you're making a mistake," he stated.
When the journalist asked about the specific price she paid for the properties, the representative maintained that any discrepancies would be resolved judicially and noted that "even the published figure is incorrect."
He later emphasized: “Today I peacefully invite you to present evidence, report, and respect the citizens and your union.”
Weeks later, the then legal advisor—now Morelos Attorney General Edgar Maldonado Ceballos—called on the former officials who acquired the land to return it. Anaya stated to the local press that he would not return the properties:
"It was like a call to mass: 'Give back the land you purchased illegally.' I, honestly, don't feel targeted because, going back to what I mentioned last year, I bought it illegally," she said.
The former Secretary of Administration asserted that she never had access to "privileged information" about the properties and expressed her calm about the matter:
"There is no privileged information because this stems from an agreement made with the Credit Institute in 2019. I started working in 2021, so there is no privileged information," he explained.
For supporting an alleged sexual aggressorAnother controversy arose on March 25 of this year, when Anaya voted to retain Cuauhtémoc Blanco's immunity after the Morelos Prosecutor's Office requested a trial of origin so that the former governor could face, like any other citizen, a complaint for attempted rape filed by his sister Fabiola "N."
That same day, Anaya, along with his counterpart Ariadna Barrera, took the floor with dozens of Morena legislators to support the parliamentary group's position. He applauded as Blanco spoke, although his intervention had not been scheduled.
This action generated strong criticism in Morelos. Civil organizations such as the "Cuernavaca" Collective called representatives Sandra Anaya and Ariadna Barrera traitors for their unconditional support of the former governor.
Several feminists also condemned her decision to support an alleged attacker, questioning the lack of sisterhood among women.
A campaign to boycott the congresswoman's seafood restaurants has begun on social media, urging people not to eat at her restaurants.
Alleged irregularities in the Administration SecretariatIn mid-February, Dolores Álvarez Díaz, head of the Legal Department, reported that alleged irregularities had been detected in various departments during the administration of Cuauhtémoc Blanco Bravo, including the Administration Secretariat, which was headed by Sandra Anaya Villegas.
In an interview, Álvarez Díaz explained that the observations include the Secretariat of Administration and the Tequesquitengo Lake Trust (Filateq). Although possible mismanagement was identified in several areas, the official specified that the second batch of complaints against the previous administration is still being processed:
"We don't yet have a date to file a second set of complaints. We're conducting a very specific analysis," he explained.
He added that the observations detected during the delivery-reception process are currently being reviewed to confirm any potential irregularities: "We are completing the integration of the information and analyzing it to verify any potential irregularities," he concluded.
Six months later, it is unknown whether this second block has already been submitted or not, as no information has emerged on the matter.
