The Kukulcán opens another page in its history

The last time the Yucatan Lions set foot in Kukulcán Park to play was on September 30, 2023. Many stories have been written since then.
The Lions, if all goes as planned, return today to the Unidad Morelos stadium, where renovations continued yesterday with an army of workers trying to leave the facility in the best possible condition. The diamond was in optimal condition, with the Lions visiting in the afternoon to explore it and loosen up with a light workout. The main focus was on the outside, where there were bricklayers, plumbers, electricians, and dozens of heavy equipment. It's unlikely that it'll be ready.
What was required was a titanic effort to leave the project in the best possible condition so that the opening ceremony of the Braves' home campaign can be held on Friday at 7:45 p.m. The game will be called, estimated at 8:45 a.m., when César Valdez pitches to the first batter for the León Braves.
It will be the reopening of the Yucatecan park , which could be seen as the "third" stadium in the history of the team , moving from Carta Clara Park , where it all began, in 1954, and then to the first inauguration of Kukulcán Park, in 1982.
The work was intense, amidst noise and movement, at the completion of a major project, with a federal investment of more than 600 million pesos that began in March 2024. Today's Kukulcán is different from the one inaugurated on March 24, 1982, with an attendance of more than 18,000 people . Now, with a capacity of 16,000 people, it is fully equipped with seats, two giant screens, luxury boxes, and many entertainment options that go beyond baseball.

The Wildcats played all of 2024 at the Víctor Cervera Pacheco Stadium in Kanasín and this year they already played their first two road series. On September 30, 2023, they faced the Alazanes de Gramma, Cuba, in the Baseball Champions League. It was the last time they were seen at that home, which reopens today with a new face, but which, they say, will be 100 percent ready in a few days, not by this afternoon.
