Tigers thrashing Boston: 14-2

Venezuelan Gleyber Torres hit a home run and drove in three runs, and the Detroit Tigers claimed a 14-2 victory over the Boston Red Sox last night.
Trey Sweeney also homered and leadoff hitter Kerry Carpenter scored three times in the first three innings for the Tigers, who improved to an AL-best 27-15 record.
Jackson Jobe (3-0) allowed one run in 5 2/3 innings. He allowed three hits, struck out seven and walked five.
Venezuelans Wilyer Abreu and Abraham Toro hit home runs for Boston.
Tanner Houck (0-3) allowed 11 runs in 2 1/3 innings. It was the second time he had allowed 11 earned runs in a start this year, becoming the first Red Sox pitcher to do so.
Houck faced 11 batters in the inning and recorded just one out before being replaced by Sean Newcomb.
Dansby Swanson and Seiya Suzuki homered in the fifth inning to help the Chicago Cubs beat the Miami Marlins 5-2.
Panamanian Miguel Amaya went 3-for-3 for Chicago, and Kyle Tucker hit an RBI triple. The NL Central leaders had lost four of five.
Cubs right-hander Colin Rea (3-0) allowed two runs and six hits in a season-high 6 2/3 innings.
Rea was replaced by Venezuelan Daniel Palencia after Derek Hill hit a two-run homer for Miami. Palencia got four outs before Drew Pomeranz pitched the ninth for his first save since 2020.
Last-place Miami lost for the 12th time in 15 games.
Wyatt Langford hit a two-run homer in the sixth inning for Texas, ending the Rockies' no-hitter in the first game after manager Bud Black's firing, and the Rangers beat Colorado 2-1.
Rockies rookie right-hander Chase Dollander (2-4) walked the first batter he faced in his seventh major league start, then retired 15 straight before running into trouble in the sixth. He issued another walk to start the inning, though he allowed Langford to go deep with two outs.
The Rockies fell to 7-34 with their ninth loss in 10 games.
In Atlanta, Mexican-American Alex Verdugo's single off Andrew Chafin drove in Eli White from second base in the bottom of the ninth inning, and the Atlanta Braves rallied after blowing a two-run lead to beat Washington 4-3, handing the Nationals their sixth straight loss.
White led off the ninth with a single off Jackson Rutledge (0-1) before advancing to second on Nick Allen's sacrifice fly. Verdugo's go-ahead single to center drove in White.
In Cleveland, Venezuelan Gabriel Arias hit a three-run double in the fourth inning, Dominican Jose Ramirez stole three bases and five Cleveland pitchers combined for a shutout in the Guardians' 5-0 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers.
Arias hit a deep fly ball to center field with two outs and the bases loaded off Dominican starter Freddy Peralta (4-3). Venezuelan outfielder Jackson Chourio misjudged the ball's trajectory and missed it by a couple of inches as it landed on his left shoulder, allowing three runs to be scored. — AP
